The 1930 US Census for Elizabeth, Union County, New Jersey shows Robert residing at #247 Vine St with his parents and 2 brothers, Walter E Britton [b. 5/15/1921and died 10/17/95 in Il.] and Russell N.Britton [b.1924 and died unknown, also served in WW2] Pvt Britton enlisted in the Army on May 11, 1942 at Fort Dix, NJ. His enlistment records states Robert was a grammar school graduate and was employed as a truck driver. Pvt Britton was 6ft tall, 149lbs During Operation Neptune, June 6 1944, Pvt Britton parachuted from his C- 47 Troop Transport plane with Tail#42-92066, Chalk#47, #13 in the Drop Line.
